Outside of the Berry Tower on Route 42

Overview

Berry Tower is a new building located on Route 42 in Johto. Inside, there are new NPCs, but its main purpose is to climb its floors by battling the Berry Masters on each level until you reach the top. The mechanic works similarly to Hoenn’s Battle Tower.

Entry Requirements

There are no special requirements. By following the story normally, you will reach the structure without issues.

Inside

Inside the tower, there is an area that works like a Pokémon Center, with a Nurse Joy and a PC. The location does not include the typical Pokémon Center second floor nor the lower Audino area. However, there is a vendor who sells only the item Berry Box for 15,000₽. There is also a panel showing how many victories you have obtained against each Berry Master, and just ahead, an NPC asks if you wish to challenge the tower.

Its function is simple: when used, you receive 6 random berries.

The Challenge

The Berry Tower challenge consists of climbing its 8 floors and reaching the top. Each floor has a Berry Master, powerful trainers with full teams (except the first one). All of their Pokémon hold the berry corresponding to that floor. The levels of the Masters’ Pokémon scale to the level of your team. To unlock the battle with any Berry Master, you must first obtain that floor’s berry. After defeating any of them, your team is fully healed.

The Berry Masters

Oran Master (1st Floor)

His team is composed of Teddiursa, Togepi, and Pichu, all holding an Oran Berry.

Sitrus Master (2nd Floor)

His team consists of Smeargle, Meganium, Azumarill, Espeon, Umbreon, and Tyranitar, all holding a Sitrus Berry

Chesto Master (3rd Floor)

His team includes Snorlax, Dragonite, Quagsire, Clefable, Chansey, and Arcanine, all holding a Chesto Berry.

Lum Master (4th Floor)

His team is formed by Salamence, Gardevoir, Mantine, Donphan, Togekiss, and Wigglytuff, all holding a Lum Berry.

Enigma Master (5th Floor)

His team includes Cloyster, Gliscor, Milotic, Tropius, Wobbuffet, and Magmortar, all holding an Enigma Berry.

Kee Master & Maranga Master (6th Floor)

This is a double battle

• Kee Master: Blastoise, Weavile, and Electivire, all with Kee Berry.

• Maranga Master: Venomoth, Charizard, and Venusaur, all with Maranga Berry.

Custap Master (7th Floor)

His team consists of Weezing, Rampardos, Cacturne, Lapras, Steelix, and Kecleon, all holding a Custap Berry.

Leppa Master (8th Floor)

His team includes Slowbro, Pawmot, Wailord, Noctowl, Smeargle, and Torkoal, all holding a Leppa Berry.

Reward

After defeating all the Berry Masters and completing the 8 floors, you reach the final level, where you meet the Tower Owner. He gives you the reward: 3 Berry Boxes. After that, you can speak with the woman accompanied by an Abra to return to the start of the tower, or you can descend the stairs normally.
